Industry, Partnerships – a new impetus – Report from the Conference of 26 June 2018

The conference launched the dialogue on a new vision for Public-Private Partnerships with the industry, post 2020. Main messages: need to digitise European industries, focus on more systemic innovations and develop a strong rationale for partnerships, involving stakeholders, workers and citizens.

This report is the summary of the «Industry, partnerships – a new impetus» conference, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation, Directorate «Industrial Technologies», in Brussels on 26 June 2018,. The conference launched the dialogue on a new vision for Public-Private Partnerships with the industry, post 2020. Approximately 350 participants from industry, research organisations, Member States, the European Parliament, the European Commission, trade unions, civil society and other stakeholders were engaged in the discussions.

The main messages of the conference included

– the need to digitise European industries,

– to focus on more systemic innovations and

– to develop a strong rationale for partnerships, with a better governance system and a wider involvement of stakeholders, workers and citizens.

All stakeholders were invited to cooperate in identifying the areas where Europe can make a difference and partnerships can best contribute. An independent rapporteur, Patries Boekholt, drafted the report of the conference.
